The month of October is all about Halloween for dog lovers. Pretty much every event this month is centered around costume contests and Halloween activities. So get your dog’s costume ready and plan to hit up one of these fun events this month:
Sunday, Oct. 13
Halloween kicks off in Berea at the Animal Rescue Fund’s Monster Mutt Dash. A 5K run and 1 mile dog walk is just the start of this dog friendly event. The HOWL-O-WEEN after party goes until 1 pm and includes games for dogs and people, a pet costume contest, food and pet vendors. Photographers will also be on hand for pictures with your pet. Visit the web site for more information.
Saturday, Oct. 19
A favorite of Lakewood residents, the Spooky Pooch Parade starts at 12:30 (for owners that want to enter their dogs in the costume contest), with the parade kicking off at 2 p.m. on St. Charles Ave. around Deagan’s. Along with the dog costume contest, this year kids can also dress up and Trick or Treat with participating vendors.
Sunday, Oct. 20
Halloween festivities really hit full stride on Oct. 20. On Sunday, Style Mutt and Hollywood Hounds are each hosting costume contests and parties and Canine Companions for Independence will host a dog walk and party. Canine Companions’ DogFest “Walk ‘n Roll” is a family oriented, pet-friendly walk that raises funds for Canine Companions. For a minimum pledge of $25 participants take part in a walk with trick-or-treat stops along the way, a raffle and a costume contest for both humans and dogs after the walk. For more info visit the web site.
Sunday, Oct. 27
To kick off the actual week of Halloween, Cold Nose Companions in Chardon will host “Howl-O-Ween” a Halloween party for your family and dog. Games, costume contests and activities such as a “grocery game and spoon race” will be held for the dogs. For more information, visit the web site.
