September Dog Friendly Events

One more month to go until it’s fall. Boo. The good thing is this month is full of dog friendly events to get you out and enjoying the last month of the summer. From dog shows to swimming, your dog has no reason to be bored this month.

Here are some events to mark on your calendar:

Sept. 5 – Dogs on the Catwalk

One of the most dog friendly bars in Cleveland, Platform Brewing Co., has teamed up with City Dogs Cleveland for a dog show at the brewery. The event lets you showcase your dog’s talents, or cuteness, as they will be judging dogs based on a wide range of criteria. Sept. 8 – Lakewood Dog Park Dog Swim

Bring your water-loving dog to say goodbye to pool season at Foster Pool in Lakewood Park. Organized by the Lakewood Dog Park, this annual dog swim takes place every year after the pool closes for the season. For more info, visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/1606900456225987/dog swim

Sept. 12 – Love-A-Stray Big Splash

Sept. 13 – The Barkley Pet Hotel Tailgate Party

The Barkley Pet Hotel will hold its first tailgate party for people and their pets in the parking lot of the hotel before the Browns game Sept. 13. The event will feature food trucks and entertainment, and you can watch the Browns game from a special viewing area. Chompers, the Browns mascot, will also make an appearance at halftime. Sept. 20 – Woofstock

This annual dog walk benefits the Geauga Animal Shelter. This year the event will be held at The Holden Arboretum. In addition to the one mile walk, there will also be games and contests as well as vendors and food. Sept. 26 – Dogtoberfest

Held at Stautzenberger College in Brecksville, Dogtoberfest will feature a costume contest, an ice cream social as well as contests, including a dog and owner lookalike contest. All proceeds from the event, which will also have adoptable dogs on hand, will go to local rescue groups.
