October Dog-Friendly Events

Now that summer is over, the dog friendly events start to die down, but luckily October has Halloween to keep the fun going! For those of you that love to dress up your dog and hit the town, there are a ton of fun events to check out this month. Hunter and I (maybe Roscoe, although he doesn’t love the crowds) hope to get to two of our favorite events – the Monster Mutt Dash and the Spooky Pooch Parade.

October 3

Downtown Dog Park Birthday Party

In celebration of the dog park’s 1st birthday, the Downtown Cleveland Dog will be hosting a party with dog friendly vendors, games, prizes, adoptable dogs and more. Party begins at 11 a.m. at the Downtown Dog Park. Find out more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1649020612046882/

October 3 & 4

The Lake Humane Society will be hosting a Fall Photos & Pup Dress Up Fundraiser Saturday and Sunday. Stop by West Orchards Farm Market in Perry and get photos taken with your dog. Cost is $25 and $10 from each session will benefit the Lake Humane Society.

Monster Mutt Dash & Howl-O-Ween After Party

Berea Animal Rescue’s annual Halloween celebration is a one mile dog friendly walk or 3 mile run, followed by a Howl-O-Ween AfterParty. Activities at the after party include vendors, a Beer Garden, Haunted Mutt House and Post-Race/Walk Massages for dogs. There will also be other dog friendly games, costumes, raffles and pet photographs. I went to this two years ago and it was a blast, I hope to get there again this year! Cleveland Pet Expo

The pet expo is dog friendly, so bring along you furry best friend to browse vendors, meet with trainers and see demonstrations as well as get free nail trims, discounted vaccinations, enjoy a pet costume contest, agility, shows and much more. Annual Husky Hike

Adopt A Husky Ohio, Inc. will host a dog-friendly hike at Brecksville Reservation. Register today to help abandoned, abused, injured and lost Siberian Huskies. October 11

Dash for Dobes Spooktacular Sprint 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk

The 2nd Annual Spooktacular Sprint 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk benefits Hand Me Down Dobes, a Doberman rescue group. Every walker or runner will receive a dri-fit race shirt (even Virtual Runners). Regal Vineyards Corn Maze

All dogs are invited to join and the day will include activities such as a rock labyrinth, pumpkin bowling, corn hole, face painting, paint ball target shooting, and so much more! A portion of each ticket sold will benefit the homeless pets of Lake Humane Society.

October 17

Spooky Pooch Parade spooky

The annual Lakewood tradition features some of the most creative in dog costumes you’re likely to see this Halloween. Anyone is welcome to dress up their dog and join the parade which travels down Detroit Ave. from Kaufman Park. Registration begins at 12:30 and the parade also includes vendors, entertainment and an awards ceremony for the best costumes.
