It’s starting to feel like winter is never going to end. In my mind I’m telling myself that we only have one more month, since I like to think March will give us at least a couple of warm days, but I know that’s a little delusional. In NE Ohio, winter often can drag into May. One way to make it through this “last” month of winter is by focusing on fun winter activities! There are a couple of dog friendly events, as well as some human-only dog events going on this month. I know my dog is dying to get out, so we will definitely be checking out some of these events (weather permitting).
First up though, a quick announcement – today’s the last day to subscribe to the blog (see that little box over to the left?) to get entered to win a Bark Box!! Winner will be announced next week.
Here’s my rundown of what to do this February with your dog:
February 8 from 2 – 3:30 p.m.
North Chagrin Reservation, North Chagrin Nature Center
3037 SOM Center Rd., Willoughby Hills
Hopefully it’ll be above 0 degrees and you can get your dog out of the house and enjoying nature! The hike will go through the wooded trails of the North Chagrin Reservation. Dogs must be leashed.
Paws at PawPaw
February 16 from 2:30 – 4 p.m.
PawPaw Picnic Area at Mill Stream Run Reservation
This winter may be rough, but a hike through one of NE Ohio’s beautiful parks may give you some appreciation for the beauty of a winter scene. Pawpaw Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, east of W. 130th Street in North Royalton.
Towpath Dog Walk
February 23 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, CanalWay Center
4524 East 49th St, Cuyahoga Hts
Meet in the CanalWay Center parking lot. The hike will go through the lower 40 loop trail. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
