Cleveland dog walks

Summer is a great time to get out and hike with your dog, but sometimes taking the same trails with just you and your dog can be get boring. Good thing there are a number of dog walks coming up in the next month to add a little excitement into your dog walking routine.

Whether it’s hiking through one of our beautiful metroparks or participating in a dog walk for a good cause, there are lots of ways to get out and be part of a pack this summer. Here are some upcoming walks to check out:

Elite K-9 Pack Walk
Mon. and Wed. at 7 pm, Saturdays at 9 am
Bradley Creek Reservation

Every Monday and Wednesday starting at 7 pm and Saturdays at 9 am, Elite K-9 leads a pack walk at Cleveland Metro Parks Bradley Woods Reservation in Westlake. Cost is $10. One dog per person and no flexi or retractable leashes. For more info, visit:

Cleveland Metroparks Dog Hike
Sun. July 27, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
North Chagrin Reservation, Willoughby Hills

The 2.5 – 3 mile trail is described as moderate in difficulty with some hills. Hike will be led by Jeff Riebe. Meet at the Strawberry parking lot.

Sat, August 2, 10 – 11:30am
North Chagrin Reservation, Willoughby Hills

Bring your dog to the park for some exercise and socialization. The hike will go through the wooded trails of the North Chagrin Reservation.

Tails for Trails
Sun. August 17, 1-3 pm
West Creek Reservation

The third annual walk-a-thon will raise funds for new parks and trails. You can choose to do either a 1 or 3 mile walk. After the walk, there will be refreshments, vendors, demonstrations and raffles. Registration is required, visit for more info.

Sun. August 10, 10 – 11:15 am
Acacia Reservation

The hike is described as moderate, with some hills. Total walk will be 2 – 2.5 miles. Meet in the Cedar Rd. parking lot

Sun. August 10, 9:30 – 10:30 am
Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

The hike will go around the Lower 40 Loop Trail.

Mutt Strut
Sat., August 23, 9 am – 1 pm

The 20th annual dog walk will take place this year at Penitentiary Glen in Kirtland. In addition to a one mile walk, there will be canine games and contests, prize raffles, an agility course and a runway show of adoptable dogs at LHS. For more info, visit

 Of course, for all of these walks, your dog must be leashed at all times. The Metropark walks are free.
